Ember keeps track of your subscriptions on your phone, with as little as possible leaving it. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.

In short

The details

What stays on your phone

Your subscriptions, settings and name are saved in your browser's storage on this device, or in the App Store or Google Play app's storage. Deleting Ember, clearing site data or tapping Delete all in Settings removes them. You can export them any time from Settings → Data.

Gmail

If you choose Find in Gmail, Google asks you to let Ember read your email with the gmail.readonly permission. Ember searches for receipts from Apple, Google and subscription services, reads them inside the app on your phone, and lists what it found for you to review.

Screenshots and bank statements

When you scan a screenshot or a statement, the text is read on your phone. The image and the statement are not uploaded or kept.

Reminders

Only if you turn them on, Ember sends our reminder server (run on Cloudflare) what it needs to remind you while the app is closed: a random device ID, your phone's push address, and each subscription's name, price, currency, billing cycle and next renewal date. Never your name or email.

Turning reminders off deletes your device's record.

In the App Store and Google Play apps, nothing is sent: reminders are scheduled on your phone.

Other services Ember asks

Purchases

Ember Lifetime is one payment through Apple or Google Play. The store handles payment; Ember only asks the store whether you own Ember Lifetime, and never sees your card or payment details. If a purchase is refunded, Ember locks again: your first subscription stays visible and the rest are hidden, not deleted, until you buy or restore Ember Lifetime again.

Children

Ember is not meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything about them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, the date above changes with it, and anything that changes what leaves your phone is shown in the app first.
